anyway guess who found his shutter shades (yes... they light up...) from week one and has taken to wearing them instead of his eyepatch. he lifts a hand in greeting, pleased vibes emanating ]

I wanted to thank you again, for keeping Anders company all these weeks.

[That makes him laugh and the second part makes him smile and look down at his feet.]

Anders was always kind to me and watched over me. He means so much to me. Repaying him with company was easy.

Making you one of the few to survive his company long term and perchance for socks everywhere.

Still. It's been more relieving that you'd think, to know someone's been around.

Our group of friends back home... well. It's a miracle we all got as far as we did without somebody getting stabbed. The fact you all feel so positive about him is more relieving that you'd know.

Hmm. He's a strange person in many ways. He so many different tempers that you could find disagreeable. But he's funny and honest and kind too.

[A shrug.]

Perhaps he just needed a space where everyone was trying to understand each other. I hope it eased your worries.

It did. It does. I was.... worried. The first few weeks, after.

Justice isn't particularly easy to get along with and Anders, in a mood certainly can be more prickly than the cats he favors.

[ sheepishly ]

I suppose having that spat on my way out may have at least helped a little.

He is. But his heart is warm underneath.

[He rubs at his arm. He barely understands connections between people, let alone adult relationships. It's all so vexing.]

You both care for each other. Why did you fight? Why didn't it work out?

[ smiles tiredly. ah, the innocence of youth ]

Sometimes simply caring for each other isn't enough. We've so much history outside the events here, it's hurt us both too much to trust another properly the way you should in a relationship.

Maybe... maybe one day we could try again but [ he shrugs, trying and failing to smile nonchalantly ] Perhaps it's just not meant to be.

[peripheries]

[He understands now. He understands in a way he couldn't understand a mere few weeks ago. When you're hurt, it's hard to trust someone won't hurt you again. When you're still hurting, it's hard to trust anyone at all.

He nods, feeling a little sad for a relationship he only saw the ghost of.]

Perhaps.
