[ explaining the sheer scope of Anders and his friendship is going to require far more alcohol than this so we're just gonna neatly step over that sleeping dragon ]
[ thank u anders for apparently having explained some of this already ]
You've got it. I didn't have much of a choice unless I wanted to watch Anders become a symbol. He might have made choices I don't agree with but even he doesn't deserve to be martyred.
Hardly. The war still happened. The mages still ended up not quite as free as they wished. Plenty still blamed myself for allowing it to happen in the first place. No... the only thing it seems to achieve was bringing him mercy.
Well. The mages are conscripted to the Inquisition now. I believe there was something about enslaving themselves to Tevinter and getting the lot of them thrown out of Ferelden? Varric was a bit sparce on that information, quite honestly. "It's a right mess" could mean so many things.
The Chantry is all but destroyed so maker help them, the templars have gone rogue and joined the latest world ending disaster along with the grey wardens in every bad decision you could choose.

What I said about not giving up hope early.
no subject
Oh no, this one is just Anders's fault.
no subject
Anders? What did he do?
no subject
What didn't he do?

[ Help. The energy really is Hm. ]
You know each other?
no subject
You could say that.

You can imagine my surprise meeting him here.

There seems to be more than one of you like that here.

Did you die at the same time?
no subject
It's been at least a few years, unfortunately. And just as awkward as you would think.
no subject
He died first? Or you?
no subject
Given it was my knife in his back, Anders died first.
no subject
Why? Because he is a mage?

Between the... Templars and the... mages if I am understanding this right?

You've got it. I didn't have much of a choice unless I wanted to watch Anders become a symbol. He might have made choices I don't agree with but even he doesn't deserve to be martyred.
no subject
Is being martyr'd a bad thing where you are from?
no subject
I didn't want to take the chance.
no subject
...
Did killing him achieve what you were hoping it would?
no subject
Hardly. The war still happened. The mages still ended up not quite as free as they wished. Plenty still blamed myself for allowing it to happen in the first place. No... the only thing it seems to achieve was bringing him mercy.
no subject
But the war is over now? How did things change?
no subject
Well. The mages are conscripted to the Inquisition now. I believe there was something about enslaving themselves to Tevinter and getting the lot of them thrown out of Ferelden? Varric was a bit sparce on that information, quite honestly. "It's a right mess" could mean so many things.
