a beat later and something behind them goes up with a fwoosh of flame. egg wiggles around to stare delightedly. hawke wrinkles his nose at the mana drop ]
Just like that? No need to wave anything or say anything...?
[Akihiko's experience with magic is very limited to that that can be used for fighting -- Persona spells, in other words -- so what he's seeing now is novel to him. It seems so...effortless, even though Hawke just said it'd take him effort to do more than this!]
There are a few places that's safe enough. A number of us have had to see where our abilities have recovered to and sparring has been quite an interesting experience.
[Hawke were you the one who submitted a field trip for the swirly vortex thing of doom and fighting]
Good. I miss training, even though it puts my life at risk.
[And he hasn't gotten to go all-out at fighting...except against Majima and Laurence, and those don't count because the first one was a battle to the death Akihiko doesn't want to have as an achievement in the slightest, and the latter was a battle to the death Akihiko would like to forget.
Perhaps that's why Akihiko goes forward, and then realizes he doesn't know the way to the rift. He's that eager to get started!]
[ watching him waddle off with enthusiasm and uh huh's quietly when akihiko realizes he doesn't know where he's heading. hawke was getting there! eventually. ]
Off to find it on your own, then?
[ he's teasing. with tilt of his head he starts heading towards the rift ]
Maker knows the thrill of a good fight makes things feel more settled after all this nonsense.
Heaven isn't that big. I'd have found it sooner or later.
[He would have, but like three hours later. Heaven is big]
Yeah. I have been boxing with Marcoh, but I haven't been able to train with my powers since I arrived to heaven. I must practice or else I'll go rusty.
[Well, also there's thrill in it, he can't deny it]
[ may as well spend those three hours fighting than lost!!!! ]
Maker knows I haven't had so much physical practice in ages like this. Magic is quite convenient but it doesn't require nearly as much upkeep as a blade does.
You can't let that happen. Body and mind are connected, and I guess magic is a third element now. If you don't keep all three at full strength, you won't reach your full potential!
[And he's great at all three, somehow! Contrary to what the spinoffs' writing would make you think. I'm still salty over that]
Marcoh trained me often. I doubt I could defeat him, but other than him I'm confident about defeat anyone else!
[In a way, defeating Majima proved great improvement. Let's be real, Majima had a handicap, but that still is an achievement. He credits Marcoh for this]
[Akihiko gets his Evoker ready. Just in case, he tells Hawke:]
This isn't a real gun.
[It's a warning he had to give because then he puts it to his head, and pulls the trigger. Akihiko's Persona Caesar appears, already prepared to pull off any of the moves Akihiko knows -- severely weakened by being at half strength, but ready nonetheless!]
This is more than I could do back in the rest of heaven.
[And apparently its support skill still is present, because Akihiko is able to raise both Hawke and himself's attack power. Good!]

[ maybe a kite string will work. cause egg is wiggling like he wants out to explore again, rip. ]
Your feet are going to get iced to the floor if you keep that up, you little trouble maker.
no subject
Oh, right. You got some of your magic back. You could in theory set everything on fire again, without needing a lighter?
[Should he expect firey trouble to arise at any point]

With effort, I could probably set a tree on fire.

[ he'd probably have better control if he was holding it and not just using the orb as a focus but he can have this one (1) attempt to be a showoff. ]
It'd be far more impressive at full power but I suppose I shouldn't be destroying the place simply for the fun of it.

Now I want to test mine and see how strong mine is right now. Not sure where to test electricity without causing too much damage around here...
[Also it seems a little dangerous to do that near a chao. Akihiko would never forgive himself if he accidentally zapped Hawke's little soul buddy]

Well then, to the rift we go. You can fight to your heart's content.

meanwhile hawke's absolutely charmed by akihiko's enthusiasm ]
It'll be quite the thing to see how much we've all improved when this is all done and over.
[ all that delicious spinny rift exp is gonna bass boost them a few ranks at least ]

We'll have to see about that.
[ spinny ronks reached, hawke unsheaths his staff and twirls it casually ]
Show me what you've got.

okay. okay!!!!!! ]
I don't know what I was expecting but that certainly wasn't it.
