Well, I do not promise that the drinks are not cursed. Gabriel never does seem to be sure which ones are safe.

Bit odd, given how long it's been. Had we been anywhere else I'd simply think I've just returned from a long trip.

Apology accepted. It was rather early in our adventure to be aware it was even possible as it was.

Yes. I knew it was possible, but I didn't yet know to assume that the afflicted would give such inconsistent explanations.

What was it like over there, all that time?

I couldn't even begin to explain my own explanations.

But- it was peaceful, for the most part. Brimstone certainly kept things lively the entire time.

Lively is one way to put it, seeing as he appeared to be bored enough to send cruel taunts back to us for no apparent reason.

He kept going intangible! Like a blood fade spirit and three times more annoying to deal with. Andraste's bloody balls, I haven't contemplated that much murder since I was in Kirkwall.

It’s a long time to be over there, for sure. Only weeks but it feels that so much changed in that time.

I've been worried the pull of returning there would win out for him in the end. He seems to feel a large amount of guilt at abandoning it. Even though I think it is rather obvious he should not be there.

At least... if you killed him, I have to assume the situation was bad enough that there were few alternatives.

It was either that or letting the rest of Thedas hunt him down until they had their unsatisfying revenge. I refused for that to happen.

But I do agree it's for the best, perhaps, to find a new beginning. Our world has taken enough from him, and since we have the choice and so many more options.....

I understand. And it seems if he returned, the same problems would arise...

I.. both cannot nor do not want to. Being Champion, it is a weight you can't escape no matter how far you run. While I mave have tolerated the title once, I've grown weary of the expectations- especially after Kirkwall.

And now... having learned there's so much more out there.. Perhaps letting the Champion fade into obscurity is for the best. Wandering without wariness, and wondering if this was the day my magic would get me killed.

[ he pauses, a little sheepish ]

Maybe I just don't want to get shot in the arse by one of our friends either.

I can see that. We have plenty of heroes of renown in the Gate, and sometimes their time has passed.
